Hello, nice to meet you!
If we haven't met before, I am Mariah Armstrong. I am a photographer based in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the third largest city in Kentucky. I have been shooting weddings and lifestyle portraits all over Kentucky and Tennessee over the last two years.
I grew up in a small town in Northwest Tennessee right on the Kentucky border. I first became interested in taking photos when I was required to take photos for my school's 4-H meetings. After I won a few 4-H photo contests, my interest in taking photos grew more and more. I finally got my own personal camera when I was 10 years old and hardly ever put it down. I would take photos of everyone and everything whether they liked it or not. I always loved capturing everything because I loved getting to capture and keep memories.
During high school, my interests shifted from photography to music and I spent my entire high school career focusing on musical theatre and choir. However, I was still always taking photos; instead of my camera, I was using my phone (very professional, I know). After graduating high school, I attended Murray State University majoring in music education. Even though I was focused on becoming a music teacher, I still had an interest in taking pictures of everything around me. My junior year, I finally decided I really wanted to learn more about photography and signed up for a photography class. I was able to learn more about the art of photography and that is what sparked my interest in professional photography. I began shooting a few events for the school and a few sessions for my friends.
Once I graduated college, I decided to bite the bullet and create my own photography company - a month before everything got locked down due to COVID-19. However, that didn't stop me from continuing taking photos and booking sessions. Once everything got lifted, I was finally able to really start growing the business. A few months later, I got engaged to my husband and we both moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky for teaching jobs. After getting married, we began working on MS Photography more in depth as a couple. In 2022, I was able to join the photography team as a second shooter for the company Once Like a Spark. OLAS gave me the opportunity to travel to new places in Tennessee and collaborate with many wedding photographers in the area.
I have always had a passion for capturing everything around me in order to keep special memories. I especially love getting to capture memories that are so special to everyone: weddings, portraiture, and families. I love getting to spend the day capturing the most special moments in people's lives.
